We know better than anyone that getting invested in a book series can put you through a lot emotionally. One of the many ways readers are put through it is waiting months or years for a follow-up novel.
That’s why don’t blame the folks who won’t read the first book in a series unless they know they won’t be waiting for the sequel and any other books to complete the series. We also totally get why others want to read everything as soon as it comes out, and happily re-read the first books before the sequels come out to refresh their memories and get in the right mindset.
