The Conflict
A strange darkness grows in Allward.
And right from the prologue we learn that that darkness is coming at the hands of the villain Taristan, who is opening the long dormant Spindles, aka portals to other realms. As each Spindle opens, Taristan grows more invincible and the realm becomes more unstable. And there’s only one small band of unlikely allies who are courageous enough (or some might say insane enough) to stand up against Taristan—we’ll get to them more in a little bit…
The World
If you follow Victoria Aveyard on social (and you definitely should), then you know how much she loves a good map. Well so do we, and we are very excited to share that the map below will be printed inside all copies of Realm Breaker! Welcome to the realm of Allward, also called the Ward.
Isn’t she beautiful?! And the best part is that over the course of the novel, the characters travel through many kingdoms trying to hunt down Spindles so you’ll get to enjoy all the rich details Victoria has put into building this world. We guarantee that traveling through Allward will be any fantasy lover’s dream, though many of the characters in the book might think it a nightmare!

Taristan, the Villain

Corayne an-Amarat, the Chosen One
Although her mother is a fearsome pirate, Corayne has never left the coastal town where she grew up. She longs to see the world and finally gets her chance when she learns that her lineage makes her the key to saving the realm.
Andry Trelland, the Squire
He may only be a Squire, but Andry already has all the best traits of a knight—he’s loyal, honest, and brave. Naturally, as the most kind-hearted character in the novel, we already fear for his safety…
Sorasa Sarn, the Assassin
Listen, Sorasa Sarn has no time for your bulls$!# and we have no choice but to stan. She’s deadly, knows how cruel the world can be, and will stay in this mission to save the realm for only so long as it continues to benefit herself to do so.
Domacridhan, the Immortal
Dom is over 500 years old and like all immortals possesses incredible strength and enhanced senses. He might often find it tiresome to be surrounded by humans, but he’s still made it his mission to save the Ward even when his fellow immortals refuse to enter into the fray.
Erida, the Queen
Erida is a young queen who has only ruled the kingdom of Galland for the few years since her father died. She has a legacy to live up to and is determined to prove to her noblemen and advisors what a strong and capable ruler she is.
Valtik, the Witch
She speaks only in rhyming riddles and has the ability to foretell the future. But Valtik also has a habit of disappearing whenever she feels like it, much to the annoyance (or sometimes relief) of those around her.
