With so much happening in the world—the pandemic and resulting lockdowns, climate change, protests against police brutality, the election—it’s been a rougher year than usual for authors and readers alike to keep up with new releases. And hey, we totally get it. But there were an unbelievable amount of new books that hit shelves this year, and so many of them were mind-blowingly good in so many different ways. With the *Book Shimmy* Awards giving us a chance to properly reflect on and appreciate them, we wanted to make sure there weren’t any YA books to read that totally fell off your radar.
